06 November 2007, Orcalab reports:

Orcas hunting fish.

We're hearing echolocation on the Flower Island hydrophone, and a short while before that, a few "A" calls. The tide is flooding, so it's possible they will head into Johnstone Strait.

Distant calls audible.

Again, we are hearing calls in Blackfish Sound.

No calls but orcas nearby

The A5 calls in Blackfish Sound ended a while ago. BUT, Mary Borrowman happened to see a small group off Telegraph Cove a short while afterwards. This group, however, were heading west toward Beaver Cove and as we have not heard any calls it is hard to confirm whether or not these whales might be the A5 group heard earlier on the "other" side. We are waiting.
